OBJECTIVE:
To support teaching staff in the education and inclusion of children of foreigners attending schools and other educational facilities in the Slovak Republic, Czech Republic, Italy and Greece
ANOTATION:
The National Institute for Education is a partner organization in the international project within the grant scheme Erasmus+ entitled Teacher training to the inclusion of children of foreigners. The project was approved under the number 2016-1-CZ01-KA202-024034. The co-ordinating organization of the project is the National Institute for Further Education in the Czech Republic. Besides the National Institute for Education in the Slovak Republic, other project partners are Association C.E.M.E.A. in Naples, Italy and 1st General Lyceum of Trikala, Greece. The project runs from 1st October 2016 to 31st May 2018, i. e. 20 months. The aim of the project is to devise methodological support of teaching staff in the education and inclusion of children of foreigners in schools and other educational facilities in the Slovak Republic, Czech Republic, Italy and Greece. The main project outcomes are the initial analysis of the current state in the process of inclusion of children of foreigners and the international workshop in Bratislava.
OUTCOMES:
Initial analysis – focused on basic information dealing with education of children of foreigners in the Slovak Republic: concepts of migration and integration policy, legislation in the field of education of children of foreigners, available statistical data about the children of foreigners in the Slovak Republic.

Workshop Teacher training to the inclusion of children of foreigners, Bratislava – carried out by the National Institute for Education. The main aim of the workshop was to provide information on the current situation in the field of education of children of foreigners in the Slovak school system; teacher education towards the inclusion of children of foreigners. The workshop was also devoted to mutual exchange of examples of good practices in the respective area. The practical activities and demonstrations useful in the educational process and a visit to the Primary school with kindergarten, Odborárska 2 in Bratislava played a significant role within the workshop. During the school visit, the representatives of partner organizations could learn about the system of education and training in the Slovak Republic, work of this primary school in the field of inclusion of the children of foreigners. An opportunity to participate in the model teaching lesson of English in the 3rd grade and Geography in the 7th grade using the CLIL method was offered, too.

Example of good school practice in the field of inclusion of the children of foreigners – Primary school with kindergarten, Odborárska 2, Bratislava is characterized by multicultural diversity. The school is attended by children from Vietnam, China, Serbia, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Russia, Canada and Costa Rica. The strength of the school is the interconnection of the primary school with the kindergarten; emphasis is put on the language preparation of the children of foreigners from their pre-school age. In addition to basic information about the school, mapping key features/strengths of the school's current practice in the field of inclusion of the children of foreigners as well as the example of educational activity are included in the provided example of good school practice.

Educational activity focused on the inclusion of children of foreigners in school – the training unit is designed for the benefit of classroom teachers of all subjects, from primary to secondary school. The activities support the development of competences for democratic culture and are focused on: creating the atmosphere of trust, openness and respect; promoting the empathy and equality; offering the respect for learners, no matter what nationality, ethnic group, religious confession or background they belong; preventing the stereotyping, prejudice, bullying and discrimination.
